Fall Leagues 2012
The following is a description of the leagues the Columbus Curling Club is offering for the Fall Session in the 2012-13 season.
All leagues only play on their respective day/night each week and there is no cross-league play.
All leagues, with the exception of the Wednesday Competitive and Instructional Leagues, commence the week of October 15 and continue through to the Christmas break. This provides 9 or 10 weeks of league play, with the variation in length due to holidays and bonspiels. The Wednesday Competitive league continues for approximately 20 weeks and the Instructional Leagues run for five-week periods.
Prerequisites:
- Instructional League registration requires that you have completed a Learn to Curl clinic or participated in a private outing at the club.
- All other leagues (with the exception of Wednesday Competitive) require the completion of one Instructional League, or have equivalent curling experience, before registration is permitted.
- Wednesday Competitive League requires a minimum of one year of curling experience, and one member on the team is required to have two years of experience. There are no exceptions.
2012 Fall Leagues:
Sunday Open & Monday Open Leagues – Registration is by individual with requests taken for one playing partner. Sunday draws are at 4 pm and 6 pm and Monday draws are at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Each league is limited to 48 participants and is a round robin format.
Tuesday Men’s and Tuesday Women’s Leagues – Reistration is by individual with requests taken for one playing partner. Each league plays at either 6:30 pm or 8:30 pm, alternating each week. Each league is limited to 24 participants and is a round robin format.
Wednesday Competitive – Registration is by team. Individual registrations will be accepted and are subject to empty spaces on team entries or sufficient individual registrants to form teams. Draws are at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. There is a round robin for the first 11 weeks of play. The league is then split into two flights based on the standings. The second half of the season consists of a round robin within each flight, followed by a playoff. The playoff format will be determined based on the number of teams in the league. The league is limited to 48 participants.
Thursday Mixed - Registration is by male and female pairs. Individual registrations will be accepted but are subject to space availability. Draws are at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. The league is limited to 48 participants and is a round robin format. Players throw alternating between male and female. Subs must be of the same sex as the person the sub is playing for.
Friday Open Spinner – Registration is by individual with requests taken for a playing partner. There is one draw at 6:30 pm with the game lasting six ends. Players will rotate playing positions after each end. The league is limited to 24 participants.
Saturday Individual – Registration is by individual. Teams and position are randomly drawn each week and standings are based on individual points. Draw time is at 5:00 pm and the league is limited to 24 participants.
